IELTS Task 1 vocabulary

 Sure, for IELTS Task 1, To successfully explain graphs, charts, and diagrams, one must possess a good vocabulary. The following vocabulary items and words are arranged according to the types of data you could come upon:   Describing Trends:  Increase- Rise, grow, go up, climb, surge, escalate.  Decrease- Fall, decline, drop, decrease, plummet, dip.  Steady-Stable, consistent, unchanged, level, plateau.  Fluctuate- Vary, oscillate, alternate, change, fluctuate.  Reach a peak-: Hit a high, peak at, reach a maximum.  Describing Rates:  Gradual-Slow, steady, moderate.  Sharp- Rapid, sudden, steep, significant.    Gradually increase-Inch up, creep up, rise steadily.  Sudden decrease- Plunge, plummet, nosedive.  Level off- Stabilize, flatten out, plateau.   Comparing Data:  Outstrip- Surpass, exceed, outdo.  Overtake-Pass, top, go beyond.  Lag behind-Trail, fall behind, be slower than.  On par with- Equal to, comparable to, on a par with.  Far outpace- Far exceed, significantly surpass.   D
